age 2 wonder at was composed by Andrew Garton utilisting KoanPro generative music software and improvisational techniques conceived by piano teacher and composer Sykes Rose.
Several of these soundscapes are derived from compositions originally scored in 1982 when Garton was under-taking private tuition with Rose.
Rose described his techniques as "the relocation of randomly-articulated tonal clusters in intervallic progressions." These ideas were applied to KoanPro, generative music software by Pete and Tim Cole in the mid-1990s.
age 2 wonder at is an archive of a generative and interactive compositional process which evolved through improvisation, sampling and spatialisation techniques. it was developed over a three year period, from 1997 to 1999 when it was released.
